First Contact Physiotherapists
- NEW musculoskeletal problems in patients that are not otherwise unwell:
- Soft tissue injuries, sprains, strains or sports injuries
- Arthritis – any joint
- Possible problems with muscles, ligaments, tendons or bone e.g. tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, ankle sprains
- Spinal pain including lower back pain, mid-back pain and neck pain
- Spinal related pain in arms or legs, including nerve symptoms, e.g. pins & needles or numbness
- Post-orthopaedic surgery
They are unable to see patients that are:
- Acutely unwell
- Under the age of 16
- House-bound
- For medical management of rheumatoid conditions
- About womens health, antenatal or postnatal problems
- Medication reviews for non-MSK conditions
- Neurological or respiratory conditions, or headaches
- Acute mental health crises
Physician Associates
- carry out physical examinations
- see patients with undifferentiated diagnoses
- see patients with long-term chronic conditions
- formulate differential diagnoses and management plans
- perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
- develop and deliver appropriate treatment and management plans
- request and interpret diagnostic studies (except those involving ionising radiation)
- provide health promotion and disease prevention advice for patients
Mental Health Practitioners
Our Mental Health Practitioners can see patients experiencing:
- Low mood
- Anxiety
- Stress
- Suicidal thoughts
- Self harm
- Grief
- Concerns about family members
They are unable to see patients that are:
- Under the age of 18
- Under the care of secondary services - CMHT, Home Treatment Team, Eating Disorder, CAMHS, Already Seeing First Step
Social Prescribers
Di, Sara, Jacqui, Trudy and Dawn are here to help you to have more control over your own health and wellbeing.
They offer general advice and guidance and can refer or signpost you to a wide range of support in the local community such as Volunteering, Parenting Support, Housing Support, Substance Misuse, Adult Education etc.
They will help you be motivated to make the changes that you want to make.

- Medication Reviews
- Medication Queries related to side effects or dosage
- Ensure your medication is working well for you
- Long Term Condition Reviews involving changes to medication
- Supporting medication changes following hospital discharge or appointments
They do not consult with patients that have an urgent new medical problem.

Mike and Fiona are our Paramedics, they are experienced practitioners and can treat a wide variety of problems.
Mike is particularly experienced in assessing frail patients and supporting them to stay in their own home.
