Flu Vaccines

 

We are booking flu appointments for eligible patients with our Practice Nurses at the Practice.

Please call us on 01539 760760 option 1 to book. We have limited stock so please contact us soon to avoid disappointment.

Please note this is for FLU vaccines only, no COVID vaccines will be available during these appointments.

 

Nasal Flu Inoculation

If your child missed the vaccination in school, or you have requested the alternative injectable flu vaccination, there is a catch up clinic being held at the Blackhall Unit at Westmorland General Hospital on Monday 16th December. This is by appointment only, please contact 01229 409608 to book. 

There is an answerphone in operation if they are unable to take your call. Please leave your name, contact number and child’s school details and they will return your call as soon as possible.

COVID Vaccines

Kendal Primary Care Network are hosting a walk-in clinic at Kendal Market on Saturday 9th November from 9am to early afternoon for eligible patients aged 12+. No appointment needed, just turn up.

Please note this is for COVID vaccines only, no flu vaccines will be available during this clinic.

 

Antiviral Medications

If you test positive and are at the highest risk of becoming seriously ill from Covid, and are aware that you are eligible for antiviral medications, please contact the practice by telephone or online.

We can then refer you to the correct team to organise your medication. 

Eligibility

You are eligible for a free flu and covid vaccine if you are:

  • over 65 years old
  • pregnant
  • live in a care home
  • Over 16 with
    • conditions that affect your breathing, such as asthma (needing a steroid inhaler or tablets), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or cystic fibrosis
    • heart conditions, such as coronary heart disease or heart failure
    • chronic kidney disease
    • liver disease, such as cirrhosis or hepatitis
    • some conditions that affect your brain or nerves, such as Parkinson's disease, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis or cerebral palsy
    • diabetes or Addison's disease
    • a weakened immune system due to a condition such as HIV or AIDS, or due to a treatment such as chemotherapy or steroid medicine
    • problems with your spleen, such as sickle cell disease, or if you've had your spleen removed
    • a learning disability
    • are very overweight – a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or above

Frontline health and social care workers, and staff working in care homes for older adults can get these vaccines through their employer.

 

I don't meet the eligibility for both vaccines, can I get a flu vaccine?

You are eligible for a flu vaccine if you are:

  • a household contact of people with immunosuppression
  • a main carer for an elderly or disabled person whose welfare may be at risk if you fall ill
  • receiving carer's allowance

 

I don't meet the eligibility for both vaccines, can I get a covid vaccine?

You are eligible for a covid vaccine if you are:

  • over 16 with epilepsy
  • a patient who requires long term immunosuppressive treatments for Inflammatory Bowel Disease or Scleroderma
  • someone with severe mental illness
